Privacy Policy
TETsync for Android · effective 10 September 2026
TETsync keeps Trans Euro Trail routes up to date on your phone. It has no account, no analytics and no advertising, and it does not collect personal information.
The short version
- TETsync collects nothing about you and sends nothing to us.
- There is no account, no sign-in and no identifier of any kind.
- It contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking software.
- It never asks for your location.
- Its only internet connection is to
transeurotrail.org, to download route files. - Everything it stores stays on your device, and uninstalling removes all of it.
Who is responsible
TETsync is published by Grondwerk. Questions about this policy or about privacy in the app can go to [email protected].
Information TETsync does not collect
TETsync has no server. There is no backend to receive your data, and no account to attach it to. Specifically, it does not collect, transmit or store:
- your name, email address, phone number or any other contact detail;
- your location, GPS position or travel history;
- a device identifier, advertising ID or any other persistent identifier;
- usage statistics, event logs, crash reports or diagnostics;
- your contacts, photos, files or anything else on your device beyond the route files it manages.
The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, attribution or advertising libraries.
Information stored on your device
TETsync keeps a small amount of information locally so it can do its job. None of it leaves your phone.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Route files (GPX) you have chosen to sync | So a route can be delivered, shared or restored without downloading it again |
| Per-country sync state: which countries you selected, the publisher's version tag and file fingerprint, file size, route revision date, status, and when it was last checked | So the app can tell whether a route has actually changed and avoid pointless downloads |
| Your settings: check frequency, Wi-Fi-only, where routes should go, track colour, and the name and location of the export folder you picked | So the app behaves the way you set it up |
You can remove all of it at any time by uninstalling the app, or through Android Settings → Apps → TETsync → Storage → Clear data.
Network connections
TETsync makes internet requests to a single destination: transeurotrail.org, to check for and download route files published by the Trans Euro Trail.
As with any request to any website, that server necessarily sees your device's IP address
and the identifier the app sends with its requests
(TETsync/<version> (dev.grondwerk.tetsync)). TETsync does not add anything
else to those requests, and does not receive or keep a copy of them. How the Trans Euro
Trail handles its own server logs is covered by their policies, not this one.
The app makes no other network connections. It does not contact Grondwerk, and there is no server of ours involved at any point.
Sending routes elsewhere
OsmAnd
If you choose OsmAnd as a destination, TETsync hands route files to the OsmAnd app on the same device using Android's app-to-app interface. This happens entirely on your phone and involves no network connection. Once a route is in OsmAnd, OsmAnd's own privacy policy applies to it.
A folder on your device
If you choose a folder, TETsync writes route files into the folder you picked, using Android's Storage Access Framework. It can only read and write inside that folder, and only because you selected it. If you pick a folder that syncs to a cloud service, that service's terms apply to the copies it receives.
Sharing
Sharing only ever happens when you tap Share. TETsync hands the file to Android's share sheet; you choose the destination app. TETsync has no visibility into what happens after that.
Permissions, and why each one exists
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
INTERNET | Downloading route files from transeurotrail.org |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Honouring the Wi-Fi-only setting, so syncing does not use mobile data when you have asked it not to |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Showing the progress of a sync that runs in the background |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC | Letting a scheduled sync finish reliably while the app is not open |
TETsync requests no other permissions. In particular it does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts or broad file-system access.
Children
TETsync is a tool for planning motorcycle and off-road travel. It is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the effective date at the top will change. Because TETsync collects nothing, there is no historic data for a future change to apply to retroactively.
